GIOL LUISA FRIZZANTE ROSE
GIOL LUISA FRIZZANTE ROSE
In the heart of north-eastern Italy, where the Piave River winds its way through verdant countryside, lies a storied estate that whispers tales of centuries past. Founded in 1427 and crowned as the oldest documented winery in Italy, the Giol estate is more than just a vineyard—it’s a living testament to the art of winemaking. Here, amid ancient castle walls and sun-dappled vines, the tradition of organic viticulture thrives, creating wines that embody purity, vibrancy, and a deep respect for the land.
One such creation is their delightful pink fizz, named Luisa in honour of the owner’s beloved mother. Crafted from Merlot and Raboso grapes, this frizzant rosé is as charming as a Venetian sunset, its soft, effervescent blush beckoning you to take a sip. From the first taste, you’re greeted by an abundance of fresh red fruits—strawberries, raspberries, and the faintest hint of cherries—before a crisp, clean finish sweeps across your palate like a cool evening breeze.
The secret to this wine’s captivating character lies in its origins. Grown on alluvial, gravelly soils under the careful stewardship of Vittorio Carraro and his team, the grapes benefit from warm days and cool nights, which preserve their natural acidity and brightness. Harvested at dawn to capture their delicate aromas, the fruit undergoes gentle pressing and meticulous care to ensure every bottle reflects the estate’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
Giol’s legacy of environmental stewardship is evident in every glass. With over 25 hectares farmed organically since 1986, the estate eschews herbicides and embraces natural fertilisers, crafting vegan- and vegetarian-friendly wines with minimal sulphur. This dedication earned their Luisa rosé a coveted Gold Medal at the 2023 Millésime Bio Wine Awards, a shining accolade for a wine that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern.
Raise a glass of Luisa and you’re not just enjoying a wine; you’re stepping into a centuries-old story, one that celebrates love, nature, and the simple joy of shared moments.
