Domaine de Valcros Banyuls Rimage 2024 – Sweet, Velvety Red from the South of France
This elegant and rich dessert wine comes from the dramatic seaside vineyards of Banyuls, located in the far south of France, right by the Spanish border. Made from sun-ripened Grenache Noir, this fortified wine is a treat for lovers of bold, sweet reds with real depth and character.
The 2024 vintage from Domaine de Valcros offers intense aromas of black cherry, fig, raisin and dark chocolate, followed by a smooth and velvety texture on the palate. Sweet but well-balanced with natural acidity, this wine is ideal for slow sipping or pairing with indulgent desserts and cheeses.
This style of wine – called “Rimage” – is aged in tank rather than barrel to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the grape. It’s a classic expression of the Banyuls AOC, and a fine alternative to Port for those who enjoy something a little different.
